  1. Jot things on a paper
Well this is no nuisance that one can keep everything in mind just by listening once. Our heads are certainly not such mechanized that it can remember everything. So to be on safer's side and not strain your head later, write down important things for your benefit. Writing makes you put less strain and the paper stays with you.
  1. Try indulging in one conversation
You might be multi-tasking always and there is certainly no harm in that but often when you do multitasking one stream of your task remains undone. Same is the scenario with communicating.
