Ways to improve communication skills

It is very common to lack on skills when they include communication. Nobody is a born expert or a perfectionist. You learn and keep on learning forever. Communication skills involve a lot of important skills which you learn eventually and gradually. Because sometimes you are not much acquainted with the facts and sometimes because of your habits you lose the track and concentration of a conversation.
  1. Do not interject in between
Yes interjections are invited but certainly not in the middle of the conversation. When anybody interrupts the other in the mid conversation, the speaker tends to lose the flow. The broken rhythm of the conversation makes it less effective and incomplete at times. So try keeping your points at the end of the discussion.
  1. Maintain eye contact
Eye contact is one of those inevitable mantras which while talking makes the conversation more meaningful. Eye contact keeps the talk intact and personal. It shows that the listener has his best interest in listening to the speaker.
  1. Jot things on a paper
Well this is no nuisance that one can keep everything in mind just by listening once. Our heads are certainly not such mechanized that it can remember everything. So to be on safer's side and not strain your head later, write down important things for your benefit. Writing makes you put less strain and the paper stays with you.
  1. Try indulging in one conversation
You might be multi-tasking always and there is certainly no harm in that but often when you do multitasking one stream of your task remains undone. Same is the scenario with communicating. If you talk to several people at one time you maintain the possibility of losing the essence of even one conversation.
  1. Do the finish.
Leaving anything in the mid or not completing it is nothing less than never starting it altogether. For a better conversation try keeping the conversation till the end. The unspoken words or the unheard ones create massive problem. So give it a finish, fill in the gaps, and remove the loopholes.

Make sure you are acquainted of the cultures of people you are dealing with. Your ‘I DON’T CARE’ attitude might result in massive loss of sales and company growth. Understand and learn thoroughly the cultures of your dealers. Not just that, follows your office culture as well for a better performance.
  1. Team work
Standing out in the crowd is a good feeling, but standing out of the crowd is certainly no good. So make sure you are humble and co-operative enough to work in a team. It will guarantee better results. Your civility will help you rise better; attending a phone when the team is brainstorming on some important issue will make you look irresponsible and rude. Not just that you will also lose the respect and your say from the team.

Respect in no doubt is the key to become a hero at your work place. We demand respect; we love it and feel overwhelmed when someone respects us.
